Phone Point Installation

Phone Point Installation

Steve here. Need a phone socket upstairs for the router? Want a landline by the bed for emergencies? I install additional BT sockets so your phone line reaches where you actually need it. Simple job, done neatly, and your broadband router can finally go in the right place.

About this service

I'm Steve, and occasionally I help Southampton homeowners who need phone sockets where BT didn't put them. Your master socket is in the hallway but you need the router upstairs for better WiFi coverage. Or you want a landline in the bedroom for emergencies. Simple stuff, but it needs doing properly.

This is very occasional work for me - maybe 20% at most - but when someone needs a phone point extending, it's a straightforward job I can do alongside other work. Neat cable runs, proper connections, and your phone line working where you actually need it.

  1. Assessment of where you need the phone socket
  2. Neat cable run from your existing master socket
  3. Proper socket installation and testing
  4. Verification that dial tone and broadband both work

What's included

Getting a phone socket extended shouldn't be complicated. I run a cable from your master socket to where you need the new socket, install it neatly, and test to make sure both your phone and broadband work properly. That's it.

  • Additional phone socket installation
  • Extension cable run with discrete routing
  • Testing for dial tone and broadband connectivity
  • Filter installation if needed for ADSL/VDSL
  • Repair of damaged or faulty extension sockets

A word of caution - if your broadband is slow, moving the router probably won't fix it. That's usually line quality, which is Openreach's responsibility. But if you just need the socket in a different location for convenience or WiFi coverage, I can sort that.

Why choose me for phone points

BT will charge you a fortune to extend a phone line, and you'll wait weeks for an appointment. For a simple extension, you don't need Openreach - you need someone who can run a cable neatly and install a socket properly.

This isn't my main work, and if you've got complex telephone issues I'll tell you to contact Openreach. But for a straightforward extension job, especially if I'm already doing other work at your property, I can help. Fair price, neat job, no fuss.
